Who are we?

Alessandro, born and at home in the Marche region, after having finished university worked for an insurance company in Cattolica on the Adriatic coast, and Jacqueline, born in the Netherlands, travelled all over the world for her work in tourism. We met “by chance” during a summer in Cattolica, when a colleague needed to be replaced for 2 months, but the meeting was “fatal”, and many years have passed since then….

During the summer months, when it became too crowded at the seaside, we were happy to retire to the Vellaneta estate, and spent many wonderful weekends there. It was the perfect place to rest, to relax, to enjoy the beautiful nature, go for walks or by bicycle, and to experience the authentic character of the Marche region. This is why we decided some years ago to have the existing farmhouse and the haybarn restored, not only for ourselves, but also to enable others to enjoy this “paradise”.

For us it is the most beautiful place in the world, where we have been able to welcome guests for the last ten years, from many places around the world. As you may have seen in our guestbook, many people love to come back! Alessandro is a passionate cook (a family trait!), who loves to spoil the guests with a delicious dinner several times a week, a barbecue or a picnic on top of the mountain at sunset!

Vellaneta is always a special place, any time of the year: in springtime, when everything is growing and blossoming, in summertime, during warm and balmy evenings with the nostalgic sound of the crickets and the beautiful starry nights, the warm autumn colours and the snow in winter, when you can see only the traces of animals on the big white carpet….
